WINGS 6 HAWKS 3
Hawks sub Chris Isola scores 48 ticks into the contest and the Hawks enter the final period up 3-2. Then the wheels fell off as the Wings rattle off four final period goals. Steve Bayagich with the deuce for the Wings. Singles for John McNelly, Jimmy Brown, sub Danny Caton and on a top shelf water bottle rocket – Mike Wilson. John Shelton and Brian Barr with the Hawks other two tallies.
HABS 3 BRUINS 2
Habs center Brian Moore scores on a stone cold breakaway a minute into the game, to send the Habs to a hard earned W. Robbie Olmstead and Kyle Lybecker(Power Play Game Winner) with singles. Todd Brown and Rex Baker score for the men in yellow. Both goaltenders – Scott French and Kirk Larson were stellar between the pipes.
LEAFS 3 STARS 0
Minus their three top forwards and their stud goalie, the Leafs dominate the Stars. Leafs sub net minder Mark Luscki was outstanding in the shutout effort! Danny Shannon scores 32 seconds into the game for the Leafs. Mike Nalepa and sub Rob Duff, on a stunning “Here you see it – now you don’t” goal, round out the Leafs scoring. Kudos to Stars goalie Billy Schaugg, who was peppered with shots all game, as he continues to deal with the Stars “Ghost” defenseman!
HABS 4 HAWKS 2
Habs sweep for the day behind the two goal effort of center Bob Rowling. Robbie Olmstead and Paul Violassi also score for the Habs. Goaler Scott French had the iron on his side this game, as the Hawks hit the cross bar and several goal posts! Nate McCaughtry with both Hawks goals. McCaughtry and Bob Rowling both hit the box in tandem with roughing minors.
WINGS 5 STARS 1
As in game one – the top spot Wings score four times in the final period to douse the Stars. Captain Brendan Brosnan credits his teams supreme physical conditioning to their final period exploits. Sub Dave “Beach Boy” Wilson with the deuce for the Wings. Singles for fellow band member Mike Wilson, Steve Bayagich and John McNelly. Sub Danny Caton with four helpers. Dar with a very light workload in nets. Wandering defenseman Kurt “The Baron” Von Mach with the lone Star goal.
LEAFS 3 BRUINS 2
As in game one – the Leafs score on the games very first shift and follow up with another goal 50 seconds later, as they hold on for the W. Mike Ala, Curt Lesnau and Mike Nalepa tally for the Leafs as they sweep for the day. With his girlfriend Natasha in attendance, Leafs sub goaltender Mark Luscki was again, outstanding in nets! Flying all over the ice, Steve “Mario” Lemieux with both Bruins markers, as the Bruins now extend their winless streak to a new Michigan Sting record of 16 games! The Bruins deserved a better fate in this game, as they totally dominated territorially. Antagonist Mike T. Brown and Leafs defenseman Lou Suvak both receive two minute unsportsmanlike penalties and convene to the sin bin. The Bruins lost speedy center Donnie Rivera early in the game, as an errant skate sliced his ear. Good thing for Donnie as he was looked after by Mark Luscki who is a medic and Leafs sub Chodin’s wife, who is an R.N. His ear was bandaged up and he went to a medical facility for stiches. Get well Donnie!
