The Habs jump out to a 5 zip lead and cruise to the W. Chris Zanke wrecks Habs net-minder Sir Kevin Beebe’s shutout with a seeing eye goal with only ten seconds left in the game! Moncton call up Smith with the deuce for the Frenchmen. Singles for Mike Lawson, Steve Orr and “Gentleman” Don Courtley.
FLYERS 3 SHARKS 2
Eddie “The Eagle” Higgins ties the game up 2-2 with just under three minutes left in the contest. Two minutes later and with just under a minute left in the game – John Zuccarini buries the game winning goal for the Flyers! Brian Belloli and sub Chapie also tally for the Flyers. Joe Plati with the Sharks initial tally. The league welcomes back longtime Sting member, winning goalie Bruno Tadolini, who subbed for the Flyers today.
HAWKS 3 WINGS 1
The line of Marty Sell(2 Goals), Peter Gibb(1 & 1) and sub Gary Szalanski(2 Helpers) do all the damage for Hawks in this contest. “Sugar” John Marchin was stellar in nets for the Hawks. Ronnie Meltsner was the only Wing to solve Mr. Marchin in this penalty free game.
BRUINS 2 SHARKS 2
After three consecutive losses to start the season – the Bruins pick up their first point of the season. Providence call up Steve “Mario” Lemieux with both Bruins markers. Doug Wargo and Steve “Barney Miller” Dietrich with the Sharks goals. Both puck stoppers – Brian Miller and Bobby Rutkoske were solid between the pipes in this penalty free game.
HAWKS 5 HABS 1
The top spot Hawks soar to their second straight doubleheader sweep to start the season! Bruce “Cooler Man” Gooel(3 &2) leads the way with his sub line mates Gregg “Barney” Denholm(2 & 2) and Rick Batchelder(4 Helpers) as they total 13 points in the game and factor in on all of their teams scoring! The league welcomes back both long time Sting members Barney and Rick Batchelder. Winning goalie “Sugar” John Marchin with a very easy workload. Mike Ala with the lone Habs goal in another penalty free game.
FLYERS 6 WINGS 1
The Flyers sweep for the day and the Wings go in the opposite direction today! After starting the season with four assists and no goals(Very Unusual) – scoring machine James George gets back on track with a two goal game for the Flyers. Singles for Ben Haynes, Keith Foucher(Top Shelf) and once again John Zuccarini and sub Chapie. As in game one – sniper Ronnie Meltsner was the only Wing to find the back of the net. Guess what? No penalties in the game!
