HABS 4 HAWKS 2
Steve Bittner leads the Frenchmen with a two goal game. Singles for John Cornish and Larry “School Boy” Rowe. Sub goaler Nadolski with a solid effort in nets. Rob “Rickie” Middleton and sub Greg Kalvin with the Hawks markers. No trips to the sin bin for either squad.
SHARKS 3 BRUINS 2
The Sharks receive goals from three of their defenseman – Craig Bastuba and subs Kyle Lybecker and Tim Vaneckoute to defeat the men in yellow. Goaltender Greg Sutter with a very good game in nets for the Fish. Mike “Padre” Nalepa and Joey Reiss with the Bruins goals. Again – this was a penalty free game.
FLYERS 8 WINGS 2
This is NOT a misprint! Flyers forward Rob Rowling with his first career four assist game! Rob also chipped in with a goal. Pat “The Beast” Wosek with a two goal game. The Paul’s – subs Erikson and Elsila also with two goal games. The third Paul – Polizzi with a single. Robbie Olmstead and Steve “With a Nod and a” Wink tally for the Wings.
HAWKS 4 SHARKS 3
The Hawks hand the top spot Sharks their first defeat of this young season. Having a fine offensive season thus far – Steve “Mario” Lemieux with the deuce for the Hawks. Singles for John “Shifty” Shelton and sub Greg Kalvin. Hawks goaler Keith Connie with a very strong game in nets and records his first “A” league victory! “Downtown” Jimmy Brown(2) and supplying plenty of offense this year from his defensive position, Craig Bastuba score for the Sharks.
BRUINS 4 FLYERS 1
Mike Nalepa leads the Bruins with the trick. Captain Rex Baker with the Bruins initial goal. Kris Arthur was stellar between the pipes. Flyers sub Paul Elsila with their lone goal. An ugly incident occurs in this game as the Flyers “Midtown” Mikey Brown absolutely “Smokes” Jeff Funk and leaves him in a crumpled state on the ice! Brown picks up body checking and roughing minor penalties. They were his second and third penalties of the game, but the referee’s were not cognizant of this fact and Brown stayed in the game. It is expected that Jeff Funk will be on the DL for a while.
HABS 4 WINGS 3
The Frenchmen win their third straight game as they send the Wings in the opposite direction with their second consecutive doubleheader loss. Bryan Prentice with a two goal game for the Habs. Singles for Jeff Curran and sub “Vin” Scully. Wearing his brand new shiny helmet – Wings center Brian Moore with the deuce. Robbie Olmstead with the Wings middle marker. Post game parking lot regular Mike “King of the Road” Miller was a no-show today, as he was not a happy camper regrading his team’s recent losing ways! Here’s a shoutout to Wings center Brian Moore who recently received a very prestigious workplace award from Crain’s business magazine. See below. Congrats Brian!!
