2-2 entering the final period and then the Flyers rattle off three unanswered goals. Mike Riddle with a two goal game. Singles for Danny Rea, Marty Papesh and sub Frank Pedwaydon. Goaler Billy Schaugg was outstanding in nets! Chuck Bowers and Mike Nalepa tally for the men in yellow.
HAWKS 6 SHARKS 4
The high octane Hawks defeat the Sharks, to make the second game today meaningful for the top spot in the standings. Young Zach Wagner with the deuce. Singles for Paul Violassi, John McNeilly, Jack Leavy and Rob “Larry” Giroux. Dana Boyette with a three helper game. “Angry” Joey Ventimiglio, Nate McNaughtry, Kyle Lybecker and sub Timmy Vaneckoute tally for the Fish.
BRUINS 3 WINGS 3
A game of zero consequence as both teams tie. Ryan Boyette and subs Scott Bozyk and Hirschfield(SH) score for the Wings. Donnie Riviera, Joey Reiss and Captain Rex Baker tally for the Bruins. Mike “Padre” Nalepa with the hat trick assist. Wings sub defenseman Lou Suvak was so upset by the firing of Don Cherry, he showed his frustration and picked up a solo roughing minor penalty in today’s game.
HAWKS 4 FLYERS 4
Hawks needed a win this game – not a tie, as they end up in second place. All season long , beating up on opposing teams second line centers – John McNeilly with the natural hat trick for the Hawks! Rob Giroux also with a Hawks marker. Brian Moore leads the Flyers with a two goal game. Singles for the Brown brothers – Mike and prodigal son – Jimmy. Flyers defenseman Danny Rea racks up a solo roughing minor penalty.
SHARKS 5 HABS 4
The Sharks needed a W to ensure a first half first place finish and they did not disappoint. Line-mates Mike “King of the Road” Miller(Hat Trick) and Dr. Nate(2 Goals) provide all the offensive output for the Sharks. The Habs spread out their scoring – Steve Bayagich, Mark Rogers, Steve “Mario” Lemieux and sub Keith Elsey. The first half has mercifully ended for the Habs, as they only win twice in the 22 game season.
