WE LOST A GOOD ONE WEDNESDAY!
MY GOOD HOCKEY FRIEND OF OVER 40 YEARS – RONNIE HINGST!
RONNIE WAS A BOARD MEMBER AND SECRETARY OF THE MICHIGAN STING IN THE EARLY YEARS AND
THE LONG TIME CAPTAIN OF THE STORIED TOURNAMENT TEAM CALLED THE FOGS.
THE CLEAN VERSION OF THE NAME IS “FAIRLY OLD GUYS.” YOU CAN FIGURE OUT THE REAL NAME!
BELOW IS A PICTURE OF THE FOUR ORIGINAL MEMBERS WHO WENT TO QUEBEC IN 1975!
OBVIOUSLY THE PICTURE WAS NOT TAKEN IN 1975, BUT WAS TAKEN IN QUEBEC, IN YEAR 25 OF 30 YEARS YEARS OF ATTENDING.
I’M ON THE LEFT AND RONNIE IS NEXT TO ME.
RIP BUDDY!
HAWKS 6 SHARKS 2
The Hawks run roughshod over the Sharks as they score three times in each period. Brian Moore with a two goal game. His first goal was of the shorthanded variety. Singles for John Poolton, Steve Lemieux, Danny Rea and Paul Elsey Jr. Goalie Kris Arthur was strong in nets! Subs Chris Ballach and “Finding Some Youth”, “Angry” Joey Ventimiglio tally for the Fish.
HABS 4 WINGS 1
As Mel Allen would say: “How Bout That!” The Habs play a great game and send the Wings to their first defeat of the season, as they also hold scoring machine Zach Wagner off of the score sheet! No small feat! Forward Joey Reiss, Kenny Kluz(SH), Anthony Amato(PP) and Rob Rowling tally for the Frenchmen. Reverting back to his Notre Dame High School days of playing at Fraser Hockeyland with defenseman John Blum in front of him – Billy Schaugg was simply outstanding this game! Slipping into the slot – Ryan Boyette with the lone Wings goal. Wings philosopher Scott Chodun says postgame: “It had to happen sometime!”
BRUINS 4 FLYERS 4
With the goalie pulled, Providence call up Robillard buries the game tying goal for the Bruins with a minute left in the game! Jim Robie and the Mikes – Brown and Nalepa also with Bruins goals. Flyers – Marty Papesh, Billy Reiss, Mark Rogers and sub Lance Koss. This was a penalty free game.
HABS 5 SHARKS 2
The Habs sweep on the day, as they have a Wings appetizer in game one and follow it up with a Sharks entree in game two! Anthony Amato was everywhere this game with a 2 & 3 game factoring in all of his teams goals! Paul “Stork” Erikson also with the deuce. One of the most dangerous defenseman in the league – Kenny Kluz with a single. Postgame locker room, Rob Rowling sat with a big smile on his face finally getting some much needed scoring help. When the Habs win and Rob doesn’t score – that’s a good thing! Greg Stacy and Mike Akins were the Sharks marksman as they drop a deuce today. Another penalty free game.
BRUINS 5 WINGS 3
Still reeling from their game one defeat, the Wings follow it up with another defeat! Baker’s Bruins were up for this game as they are now undefeated in their past five contests! The fired up Mike “Padre” Nalepa with a two goal game. Singles for Scott Leslie, Jamie Smith and Mike Riddle. Goaler Gordy Nadolsky was outstanding in nets! As in game one – Ryan Boyette scores, along with teammates Rob Giroux and defenseman Kurt Salvatore. Acting very unpadre like, Mike Nalepa played a game and a half, as he incurs three penalties and a very early game exit! Maybe Everest Academy had a board meeting tonight?
FLYERS 4 HAWKS 3
Waz Sarweh scores the Flyers first and final goals as they take 3 out of 4 points today. Marty Papesh and Trevor Wrobel(PP) with singles. Lehigh Valley call up goalie Rodney Heid was strong between the pipes! David Rupprecht, Steve Lemieux and Paul Elsey Jr. dent the twine for the Hawks.
