RIP TO A TRUE GREAT WARRIOR AND PLAYER – BORJE SALMING!
BELOW IS A PICTURE I RECEIVED 20 YEARS AGO FROM AN OPPOSING PLAYER
ON THE SWEDISH TEAM THAT I WAS PLAYING AGAINST IN THE FLORIDA PALMS TOURNAMENT.
A PICTURE OF HIMSELF AND HIS TEAMMATE BORJE, IN THE LOCKER ROOM IN SWEDEN!
THE SECOND HALF COMMENCES!
HABS 4 HAWKS 1
The Habs methodically defeat the Hawks, scoring twice in each period with four different goal scorers. John “The Little Ball of Hate” Perini, Al Pyc, Donald Courtly and Kenneth Wilkins do the honors. Sub goalie Billy Papciak was strong between the pipes. Rockford call up Matt Lawson with the Hawks goal.
BRUINS 4 SHARKS 2
A very choppy no flow game, as four of the goals scored were of the ugly variety. Steve Lemieux, Chuck Mouraine and subs Larry “School Boy” Rowe and Gary Szalanski score for the Bruins. “Black” Jack Priauix and on a beautiful end to end rush – sub John Zuccarinni tally for the Fish.
WINGS 3 FLYERS 3
Mike Lawson scores late in the game to give the Wings the tie. Mike Harke and sub John Siterlet also tally for the Wings. Flyers sub Ken Debus goes twine twice. Sniper Robert Stempian with the Flyers initial marker.
HAWKS 4 SHARKS 2
Down 2-1 entering the final stanza, the Hawks score the games next three goals for the W! New York Rangers star Mika Zibanejad lookalike(See Picture Below) sub Matt Lawson with a two goal game. Singles for Jeff Morton and sub Adam Godard. Sub goalie Rodney Heid stood tall in nets. Ben Haynes and once again sub John Zuccarinni score for the Sharks.
FLYERS 5 BRUINS 2
The hard working and suddenly swift Flyers(4 Subs) dismantle the Bruins. Subs Ken Debus, “Freddy” Lynn and Justin “Mickey” Brantley, along with regulars Robert Stempian and Pete Ludwig with the Flyers goals. Master facialitor Jimmy George with the hat trick assist. Steve Lemieux and Dougie Roehl with the Bruin goals. This was a rough and tumble game, reminiscent of the late 70’s Flyers and Bruins battles. Bruins forward Chuck Moraine with a solo roughing minor penalty. Dougie Roehl of the Bruins and Flyers sub Steve Orr both crash into the end boards in separate incidents and had to be assisted off the ice. Bruins sub Tom McHugh only played half a game leaving with a hamstring injury.
HABS 1 WINGS 0
Told ya last week! Watch out for these up and coming French guys, as they sweep on the day! Sub goalie Billy Papciak was simply outstanding in nets with the whitewash! Mike Ala with the game winning goal with just under three minutes left in the game! This was a penalty free game.
This former NHL player won a
