WEEK THREE – PLAYOFFS

HAWKS   5    SHARKS   2

The Hawks unceremoniously snap the Sharks four game winning streak!  Sniper John Poolton scores his first of two goals a minute into the game!  Singles for Paul Elsey Jr., Brian Moore and taking a leave of absence, Ukrainian corporal Zaschek.  Kris “King” Arthur shined in nets!  Nick Piccolo and John Cornish reach the back of the net for the Fish.

FLYERS   4    HABS   3

Flyers go up 4-0 and are on cruise control!  The gritty French guys rally back with three goals in the games final six minutes to make this game a nail biter!  Trevor Wrobel(SH), Waz Sarah, Rob Hergott and on a seeing eye far side backhand – Billy Reiss tally for the Flyers.  Ken Kluz and subs “Angry” Joe and Chris Ballach score for the Habs who extend their losing streak to five games!

WINGS   7    BRUINS   2

The Wings run roughshod over the over matched Bruins!  The Wings top line of Zach Wagner(1 & 4), Steve Bayagich(2 & 1) and Terry Boyette(1 & 2) total 11 points in the game as the Bruins had no answer for their line.  Nate Wagner and Rob Girouix with singles.  Goaler Joe Polizzi with a ten save game.  Steve “With a Nod and a) Wink and sub Scott Davenport score for the men in yellow.

HABS   9    BRUINS   4

The Habs snap their five game losing streak and win their first game of the playoffs!  Sub Chris Ballach with the trick!  Line-mate Rob Rowling with the deuce.  Rob “Archie” Montgomery also with a two goal game.  Sub “Angry” Joe Ventimiglio withe a 1 & 3 game.  Paul “The Walking Dead” Erikson with a nice backhand goal.  Bruins – Jim Robie, Mike Nalepa, Midtown Mikey Brown and sub Chuck Bowers.  Does anyone know who Edward John Smith is?  He was the captain of the Titanic.  The Bruins have now lost their past two doubleheaders.  You can just tell by the Bruins bench body language that this is an inevitable sinking ship!  Leaving the ice postgame, sub Scott Davenport screams at Rob Rowling about cherry picking.  Rowling politely responds back: “Where you out there today Scott?  I didn’t see you?”  Gotta love hockey players!

FLYERS   3    SHARKS   0

This very talented Flyers team, now has leapfrogged the Sharks for second place in the standings!  Picking up right where he left off in the Michigan Senior Olympics last week – Flyers sub puck stopper Brian Miller with the well earned whitewash!  Brian Reath, Mark Rogers and sub Piccolo tally for the Flyers in this penalty free game.  No red flags on the beach.

WINGS   4    HAWKS   2

A game of huge impact for these Hawks.  Deuces wild for Zach Wagner and Michigan Senior Olympic 70+ champion Terry Boyette.  The Hawks actually jump out to a 2 zip lead scoring twice in the games first minute!  John Poolton and Steve Lemieux with their goals.  Terry Boyette’s two goals were of the power play variety, as center Brian Moore racked up the three Hawks penalties and an early final period exit.

Who is the only Detroit Red Wing goalie to score a goal?

Chris Osgood – 1996
