FLYERS 3 HAWKS 1
Jimmy George scores on consecutive first period shifts and Sammy Bonanno slips in a rebound, to stake the Flyers to a 3-0 first period lead and the W! Puck stopper Mike Haines stood on his proverbial head this game! Billy Hagen with the Hawks marker.
WINGS 3 BRUINS 0
Reverting back to the days of his youth, playing hockey outdoors at Hellman’s with leather pads – goaler Bobby Rutkoske with the well earned whitewash! General Robert E. Lee leads his troops with a two goal game. Captain Brian Belloli with the initial and game winning goal. Hibernation time for the Bruins in this penalty free game.
HABS 1 SHARKS 1
All the Habs needed was a point this game to clinch the top spot in the standings. And that’s exactly what they did! John “The Little Ball of Hate” Perini scores early in the game for the Habs. The cerebral Keri Topouzian ties the game up late in the first period for the Fish. Goalies – Dave Gaskey of the Habs and Brian Miller of the Sharks both excelled in nets! This was a penalty free game.
HAWKS 10 BRUINS 4
Oh my! Jimmy Klimkowski scores 57 ticks into the game for the Bruins and then it was all Hawks from there! Subbing for his initial time in the “R” league, Waz Sarweh with the trick for the Hawks. Mike Fox with the deuce. Singles for the following players: Billy Hagen, Dan Bouzide, Dave Debrincat and Jerry Krause. Steve Lemieux, Doug Roehl and “Black” Jack Priauix also score for the Bruins.
SHARKS 6 WINGS 4
2-2 entering the final stanza – then the Sharks rip off four goals for the W! Sub Mr. Ergin with a huge four goal game for the Sharks! Tommy Hines and Dougie Wargo also score. Recently retired and then unretired – Larry “School Boy” Rowe scores twice for the Wings. Mike Lawson and Bruce Gooel also score. Brian Belloli with the hat trick assist.
FLYERS 2 HABS 1
Just making a little statement – as the second place Flyers upend the first place Habs, in an extremely no love lost contest. Rounding into form – Sammy Bonanno and Jimmy George do the honors for the Flyers. Once again – goalkeeper Mike Haines was outstanding in nets, as his counterpart Dave Gaskey also excelled. Habs sub Jeff Funk with their lone goal as they score only once in each game today.
