KEVIN MAGUIRE PARTICIPATED AND REPRESENTED THE MICHIGAN STING

IN A MICHIGAN TECH ALUMNI GAME THIS PAST WEEKEND!

WEEK FOUR – PLAYOFFS

WINGS   4    FLYERS  1

Scoreless entering the final stanza – then the Wings rattle off four goals for the victory!  Wings – Steve Orr, Robbie Olmstead, Dave Speiss and with the game winner – Captain Kevin Maguire.  “Sugar” John Marchin stood tall in nets for his Wings.  Robert Stempien with the lone Flyers goal.

HABS   6    SHARKS   3

Mr. Mike Ala with a huge four goal game for the Habs!  Robbie Porter and Mike Harke with singles.  Captain Kenny Wilkins with a big five helper game!  Shifty Sammy Bonanno with the deuce for the Sharks.  Sub Eidt with their final marker.  After being in the Championship game for the past four seasons – though he was on the losing end each time – ain’t gonna happen this season for Sammy “The Bull” Bonanno, as the Sharks won’t be in it!

HAWKS  3    BRUINS   3

Bruins play another great game and hang on for the hard earned stalemate. Paul Violassi scores twice for the Bruins.  Mark Smyth with their middle marker.  Todd Hachigan scores twice for the Hawks.  Brian Belloli with their initial goal.  Power forward Kenny Perko of the Hawks picks up a solo minor roughing penalty.

SHARKS   7    BRUINS   5

A game of low playoff magnitude as the score shows – the Sharks outlast the Bruins.  Dave Debrincat scores twice for the Sharks.  Singles for Steve Dietrich, Ben Haynes, John Perini, John Zuccarini and sud Eidt.  Mark Smyth of the Bruins scores his first of two goals 20 ticks into the contest.  “Black” Jack Priauix, Paul Violassi and sub Keith Foucher with Bruins singles.  The Bruins are still winless in the playoffs, sporting four ties!

HAWKS   4    FLYERS   3

The high flying first place Hawks remain undefeated in the playoffs as they edge the hard working Flyers.  Todd Hachigan with the Hawks deuce.  Singles for Dan Bouzide and sneaking in from the point – defenseman Mike Kruger.  A little sidebar – I played at Fraser for many years with Mike’s Dad – Harry.  Flyers – Frank Pedwaydon, Bo Altherr and sub Matt Linnell as they drop a deuce today.

WINGS   4    HABS   1

The Wings sweep on the day behind the stalwart puck stopping efforts once again of John Marchin, who only allowed a goal in each game today!  Wings – Robbie Olmstead, Steve Orr, Chuck Mouraine and Bob Watson.  Who else?  Mike Ala with the Habs goal.  This was a penalty free game.

Gordie Howe did NOT win the Calder Memorial Trophy(Rookie of the Year) in the 1946-47 season.

Who did?

Howie Meeker – Toronto.
