HAWKS   2    SHARKS   0

Goalie Brian Miller and the Hawks harpoon the Sharks.  Feeling a little more angry today – Joey Ventimiglio and Joe Robillard do the honors for the Hawks.  No red flags on the beach this game.

WINGS   3     BRUINS   1

Jeff “Marine” Steiber scores twice on his first shift of the final period, as the Wings dispatch the Bruins.  Chris Robillard with the Wings insurance marker.  Puck stopper Billy Papciak was stellar in nets.  Rob Rowling with the lone Bruins goal.

HABS   6    FLYERS   4

A run and gun affair, as Anthony Amato scores his first of two goals in the games first minute for the victorious Habs.  Mike Nalepa also scores twice for the French guys.  Singles for Kenny Kasper and Butch Ericson.  Charlie Eslinger and Johnny “O” Ognanovskii both with two goal games for the Flyers.

HAWKS   2    HABS   0

An extremely rare occurrence in this run and league, as Hawks goalie Brian Miller with the double shutout!  Hats off to Brian and his teammates!  Normally we see only one shutout during the entire season!  The Hawks elder statesman – Angry” Joe and Mike Riddle go twine.  As in game one, Lou “The Butcher” Suvak with a minor tripping penalty for the Habs, as he watched the game winning goal enter his net.

WINGS   7    SHARKS   7

Now we’re talking!  This is more like it – as goals abound!  Mr. Chris Robillard scores his fourth goal of the game with the goalie pulled, as the Wings capture the tie!  Lineman Jeff Steiber assisting on all four goals.  Scott Chodun, Trevor Knight and sub Ben Haynes with singles.  Deuces wild for Steve “Mario” Lemieux and John Poolton of the Sharks.  Ian Axworthy, Rich Artymovich and Dave Rupprecht also score.  Goalie Mark Micolo Jr. with two assists!

FLYERS  4    BRUINS   4

Rob Rowling of the Bruins scores a late game tying goal – his second of the game.  Robbie Olmstead and sub Waz with the Bruins first two goals.  Rob “The Full Monty” Montgomery scores twice for the Flyers.  Singles for Trevor Wrobel and Ryan Boyette.  The league welcomes Dad Terry back from his lengthy DL stint.  This was a penalty free game.

While playing for the New Jersey Devils, Chico Resch once got pulled over by a cop: ”’Hey buddy,” the officer said, his voice as gruff as that of the toughest NHL forwards. “What are you doing?”  “’I’m trying to find this church,” I said. “Did I do something wrong?”  “You went through a red light.” I started groveling. I told him I’d just moved to Jersey, didn’t know a whole lot of people. At that point, I began bracing for the ticket. And then he recognized me. “Don’t I know you?’ he asked. “I don’t know. Who do you think I am?”  “Don’t you play hockey?”  “Yup,” I said. “You’re a goalie, right?”  “Yup.”  “Chico Resch? Goalie for the New Jersey Devils?” “Yup. That’s me.” ’ “Ive seen you play goal. And you, more than anybody else, knows what a red light looks like.’” Turns out he was a New York Rangers fan. At least he let me off without a ticket!
