A community in Livonia is honoring loved ones who were touched by cancer by giving back in a major way.

A hockey team launched a nonprofit to raise funds for kids to pursue sports after they had suffered a loss. American Aces is also raising awareness through events, like one they had this weekend.

Brian Prentice is recalling the bond he and his brother, Josh, shared over hockey and giving back. Josh passed away on Nov. 13.

RIP FORMER MICHIGAN STING PLAYER JOSH PRENTICE!

DAD MIKE AND BROTHER BRIAN ARE LONG TIME MICHIGAN STING MEMBERS.

HABS   5    SHARKS   2

Longtime Shark Captain Nate McNaughtry leads his new team the Habs, to the victory with a two goal game against his former team.  Singles for “Downtown” Jimmy Brown, Jeff Steiber and sub Rob Aughe.  Goaler Billy Papciak with a sharp game between the pipes!  Mary Papesh and Mark Micolo tally for the Sharks.

HAWKS   9    FLYERS   3

Ouch!  The high flying Hawks put up a seven spot in period one!  Trevor Knight with the trick, deuces wild for Mike Nalepa and sub C. Wrobel.  Brian Moore and Scott Leslie also score.  Mike Riddle goes twine twice and Ryan Boyette score for the Flyers in this penalty free game.

WINGS   9     BRUINS   4

Another blow out, as the Wagner brothers Zach(3 & 5) and Emmett(5 & 2) total 15 points in the game and have a field day!  Oh – and Joe Robillard also scored. Three of the goals were of the power play variety as Bruins enforcer Brendan Brosnan racks up three penalties in the first period for an early game exit to rest up for game two.  The Wings Angelo Pizzo and Brosnan both receive roughing minor penalties.  Sporting six subs today, the Bruins receive goals from Mike T. Brown and sub Scottt Davenport(2) and Billy Hagen.

FLYERS   2     HABS   1

Power forward Jimmy Brown scores 44 ticks into the game for the Habs.  26 seconds later Trevor Wrobel ties it up for the Flyers.  On his next shift Trevor wraps around the game winning and final goal of the game!  In between games Flyers goalie Brian Miller makes a quick trip to Walgreens for sun screen after the Flyers first game.  It worked – as winning goalie Miller and Habs goalie Billy Papciak play shutout hockey for the remaining 30 minutes of the game!

WINGS   10    SHARKS   4

Oh boy!  The EZ boys put a show on today!  Emmett( 2 & 4) and Zach(3 & 2) total 26 points in both games today and set a Sting record!  Are you kidding me?  Awesome job guys!  Terry Boyette, Steve Bayagich and Angelo Pizzo also score.  With this kind of goal support the Godfather of goaltending Dar, can utilize that rocking chair he has on layaway!  Speedster Anthony Amato scores twice for the Sharks.  Singles for Mark MIcolo and Mike “The Diet” Akins.  The Sharks are now winless in their past seven games in this young season.

BRUINS   7    HAWKS   5

The Bruins score six times in the first period behind the two goal efforts of Sean “The Juggernaut” Kendall and sub Chris Ballach.  Larry “School Boy” Rowe and subs Scott Davenport and the missing man on Bally’s – Trevor Thompson.  Robbie Olmstead with the trick for the Hawks.  Brian Moore(Also 3 Helpers) and sub C. Wrobel with singles.  Unfortunately now to the ugliness!  Returning from parts unknown and most likely NOT returning again, sub Scott Davenport was completely out of control with two minutes left in the contest!  He received the following major penalties racking up 52 minutes in penalties: Slashing/game misconduct, unsportsmanlike conduct, two separate abuse of game of game officials/game misconducts and finally a slashing match – intent to injure, made toward referee Buzz Thomas’s head on the glass stating “I will kill you!”  Then – he would not leave the rink spewing expletives behind the scorekeepers area.  Finally after repeated pleas by the scorekeeper to leave – he left.  Ironically all of this happened in arena two which has the below sign posted!

Name the two USA born goalies with the most NHL victories.
One is still active.
Ryan MIller and Johnathan Quick.
