SINCERE GET WELL WISHES TO ROB DUFF!

ROB IS BATTLING A CHRONIC UPPER BODY CONDITION,

WHICH COULD JEOPARDIZE  HIS HOCKEY FUTURE.

GOOD LUCK – ROB!

WEEK ONE – PLAYOFFS

SHARKS   7     HABS    4

Really?  Mr. Nate McCoughty scores his team’s last five goals in a spectacular playoff performance!  Whatever defensive strategy the Habs had installed for Nate – it didn’t work!  Donnie Rivera and Mike Brown with the Sharks first two markers.  Super sub Rob Rowling with a two goal game for the Habs.  Singles for Mike T. Brown and Steve Bittner in this penalty free game.

BRUINS   2    HAWKS   0

When he’s hot – he’s hot!  “Smoking” Joe Polizzi had the Hawks shaking their heads time after time, as his glove hand was in vogue today!  Line-mates John McNeilly and Mike “King of the Road” Miller with the Bruins goals.  No Hawks highlights.

FLYERS    3    WINGS   2

The Wings relinquish a 2-0 final period lead, as the playoff ready Flyers tighten up their defensive play and earn the W.  Flying all over ice – Danny Rea with a two goal game.  Mike Riddle with the middle marker.  Goaltender Billy Schaugg was outstanding in nets.  Terry Boyette and sub Gary “Tall Dude” Seelbinder score for the Wings.

HAWKS    6    WINGS    1

After being blanked in game – the Hawks rocked and rolled this game.  Subs Chris Isola(2) and Darrin “Mitch” Hotts – along with Joey Reiss, Ward Peterson  and Timmy “Dutch” Schultz all dent the twine for the Hawks.  Facilitator John “Shifty” Shelton with the hat trick assist.  Goaler Kirk Larson with an 8 save game.  Steve Wink with the lone Wings goal.  It was evident today, that the Wings missed the offense of center Brian Moore – the top forward picked in the draft as they only totaled three markers today.  Forgotten Wings forward Curt Lesnau threatened to make a comeback for the playoffs, after missing the entire second half of the season with multiple lower body injuries.  Didn’t work out, as now he is nursing an upper body injury with surgery pending.  See you in the spring!

SHARKS   7    FLYERS    5

The Sharks were minus their regular goalie Billy Mac Jr. today.  Didn’t matter, as they flood the nets with another seven goal game!  “Midtown” Mikey Brown leads the way with the trick.  Sub Bruce “Cooler Man” Gooel with the deuce.  Singles for Donnie Rivera and Dr. Nate McCoughty.  Only one goal for the Doc this game, after his epic five goal performance last game?  Rounding into shape after a lengthy D.L. stint – Billy “The Dark” Knight with a two goal game.  Singles for Paulie “Knuckles” Polizzi, Mike Riddle and “Diamond” Dave Vorhes.

BRUINS   8    HABS   0

Oh my!  A rare double shutout for “Smoking” Joe Polizzi and his Bruins teammates, as they obviously sweep for the day!  The Bruins adhere to the book of Dar.  As they score early and often with seven goals in the games first 13 minutes!  The MGM line does major damage as they total 14 points in the game!  John McNeilly(2&2), Jimmy “Jets” Galloway(4&3) and Mike Miller(4 Helpers) were unstoppable this game.  This was Galloway’s first four goal game since he was a kid playing in the Warren rink.  Absolutely no French highlights as they surrender 15 goals on the night!  Ouch!

This is a pretty cool trivia question.
Which three current NHL head coaches are natives of Michigan?

Scroll down for the answer.

Jeff Blasill – Red Wings – Sault St. Marie.

Doug Weight – Islanders – Detroit – My neighborhood – 7 & Gratiot.
Doug anonymously funded the Notre Dame High School hockey program
