WEEK TWO – PLAYOFFS
WINGS 5 SHARKS 3
The Wings win their third straight playoff game behind the Herculean efforts of Mr. Mike “King of the Road” Miller who records a four goal game! Line-mate Brian Moore with a five helper game. Steve “With a Nod and a” Wink scores the Wings initial goal. Scott Leslie, Ward Peterson and Billy Mac Jr. tally for the Fish.
FLYERS 5 BRUINS 1
The big guy Rob Rowling with the deuce for the Flyers. Singles for Donnie Riviera, Mike Riddle and Billy “The Dark” Knight. Goaler Billy Schaugg was outstanding in nets! Mike Nalepa with the lone Bruins goal. But – this game was marred by another Pat “The Beast” Wosek wild slap shot from his own blue line that nailed Bruins captain Rex Baker in the side of the head, opening up a huge wound that ended the game with two minutes left. Baker was last seen bloodied and leaving for the hospital.
HAWKS 3 HABS 3
Habs blow a 3-0 lead as they surrender the tying goal with 45 ticks left on the arena clock! Dr. Nate McNaughty with the deuce. Al Pyc with the Hawks first tally. Playing a strong overall game – John Cornish with a two goal game for the Habs. Larry “School Boy” Rowe rams in a rebound.
FLYERS 5 HAWKS 4
Hawks up 4-2 late and seemingly in complete control of the game. Then the Flyers score three goals in the games last six minutes for a resounding W! Scoring machine Rob Rowling with the trick. Singles for Donnie Riviera and Billy Knight. Dr. Nate with another two goal game. Sub Mike Garlick and scoring on the five year anniversary of his retirement – Curt Lesnau.
BRUINS 6 SHARKS 4
Playing one man short due to Rex Baker’s injury absence – the Bruins harpoon the Sharks! Line-mates John McNeilly and Mike Nalepa both with 2 goals and 2 assists. Marty Papesh and sub Paul “Stork” Erikson also score. Sharks – Ward Peterson, Lloyd Rogers, “Angry” Joey Ventimiglio and Billy Mac Jr.
HABS 3 WINGS 0
The Habs deliver the Wings their first defeat of the playoffs! Sub puck stopper Nadolski put on a goaltending clinic for the sparse crowd. Steve Bittner, Jeff Curran and defenseman Mike Krueger do the honors for the Frenchmen in this penalty free game. No Wings highlights.
