WINGS    9     SHARKS    4

Whoa!  If you like offense – this was the game for you!  The Wings score four times in the games first seven minutes to jump out to an early 4-0 lead!  This last place Wings team leads the league in goals scores and goals allowed!  But – they are fun to watch!  Joey Reiss with the hat trick.  Mike Nalepa with the deuce.  Singles for Ryan Boyette, “Midtown” Mikey Brown(23 Ticks into the Game), Steve “Mario” Lemieux(Also 3 Helpers) and Rob Rowling.  Big Rob achieved a career  first in this game.  After leading the summer league in goal scoring last season, with 43 goals and just nine assists – Mr. Rowling with a career best FIVE assist game!  Passing the puck eh?  Lou Suvak, “Downtown” Jimmy Brown, Billy Mac Jr. and Mike Ala score for the Fish.

HABS   6   FLYERS   4

The Habs blow two – two goal leads and win the game by two goals!  Deuces wild for Al Pyc and Dr. Nate McCoughtry.  Larry “School Boy” Rowe and Bryan Prentice with singles.  Right defensemen Pierre Dugas with an excellent game back on the point, with a four helper game.  Flyers left defenseman Danny Rea also with a great game on the backend, with the hat trick!  Mike “King of the Road” Miller with a single.

BRUINS   5     HAWKS   1

Bruins center John McNeilly scores his first of two goals 31 seconds into the game!  Singles for “Angry” Joey Ventimiglio, Chuck Bowers and Craig Bastuba.  Sub “Marine” Stiber with the lone Hawks marker.

HAWKS   6   WINGS   2

Rockford call up Mr. “Marine” Steiber passed the audition, as he records a big four goal game!  Singles for Donnie Riviera and Scott “Scowling” Leslie.  Benny Hudson and Ryan Boyette score for the Wings, who get torched for 15 goals today!  Big Rob Rowling assisted on both goals – for a grand total of seven helpers today!  The Hawks Jim Puffer(Slashing) and the Wings Terry Boyette(Unsportsmanlike Conduct) pick up minor penalties and hit the box in tandem.

FLYERS   2    SHARKS   0

With his mask displaying his alter ego – Super Hero Kirk “Captain America” Larson was simply outstanding in this contest as he racks up a well deserved whitewash!  Captain America had the Sharks talking to themselves numerous times throughout the game.  Mike T. Brown scores on the second shift of the game for the eventual game winner.  Right defenseman Pat “The Beast” Wosek adds a first period insurance goal.  The Sharks are stuck in a mini-malaise, as they drop their third game in a row.

BRUINS   3    HABS   3

The marquee game of the night, as both teams entered the game tied for first place and remained tied for first place following the game!  John McNeilly of the Bruins with another two goal game.  His second goal was highly disputed by the Habs, as the whistle was clearly blown prior to McNeilly stuffing the puck into the net.  For some inexplicable reason – the goal stood.  As in game one – Craig Bastuba scores for the Bruins, as they are now undefeated in their past two doubleheaders.  Dr. Nate with another two goal game for the Habs.  His final goal was a thing of beauty, as defenseman Dougie Roehl hits Nate with a long stretch pass and Nate goes top shelf for the game tying breakaway goal.  Bryan Prentice also with a Habs marker.  Habs net-minder Dar stoned Bruins center John McNeilly, as John had at least a full five seconds alone in front of the net!  Just him and Dar!  Dar won!  Habs defenseman Pierre Dugas(Roughing) and Bruins sub Darrin “Mitch” Hotts(Slashing) get into a “How Do You Do” and spend quality time in the box together.

In honor of the late – great Hall of Famer Johnny Bower.
The last time the Leafs won the Stanley Cup was in 1967.
The Leafs used a new concept, called the two goalie system that year, which also produced the Vezina Trophy.
Which goalie shared the Vezina Trophy and the Stanley Cup with Johnny Bower?
Scroll down for the answer.
