FLYERS  6    SHARKS  4

As predicted in my preseason evaluation – the Flyers are the last team standing!  Congrats Flyers! This was a barnburner!  Flyers jump out to a four zip lead, only to see the Sharks load up a line of Sammy “The Bull” Bonanno(4 Helpers), Ben Haynes(2 & 1) and Doug “Jeff” Beck(1 & 2) who total ten points in the game and stage an almost furious comeback!  Smooth skating John Zucchini with the Sharks initial tally.  Now to the Championship Flyers and their MVP goalie Mike Haines!  Mike was outstanding this game, as he turned in several highlight reel saves, stopping the ever dangerous Sammy Bonanno on a clear cut penalty shot type breakaway at games end that would have tied it up 4-4!  Flyers were up 5-4 with 25 seconds left in the game – face-off to the left of goalie Mike Haines – Sharks cleanly win the face-off and had several close in chances to tie it up!  Didn’t happen – as center Robert Stempian goes empty net for the insurance goal!  Steve “Honey Badger” Orr with the game winner for the Flyers, as he deftly skated around the Sharks defenseman and deposited the puck top shelf!  Offensive minded defenseman Kevin Maguire with a big two goal game!  Singles for Adam Godard with his 14 year old son in attendance and sub Matt Linnell.  Captain Ryan O’Rourke with the hat trick assist.  An extremely entertaining game to end the season!  All had a great time post game at Joe Kools!

I just love it when the goalie keeps his mask on for the team picture – don’t you?
