HAWKS   4     SHARKS   0

Picking up where he left off in his superb Championship game performance – goaler Mike Haines spins the whitewash against the Sharks!  Hawks – Brian Belloli, Dan Bouzide, Bruce Buntin and sub T. Hachigian.

WINGS   4    BRUINS   1

Two goals in each period do the job for the victorious Wings.  Bob “Bugsy” Watson leads the way with a 1 & 3 game.  Pat “Crazy Legs” Berry, Ronnie Meltsner and sub “Bobby” Mercer also score.  Sub goalie Billy Papciak with a relatively light workload.  Bruins sub Frank Pedwaydon with their marker.  This was a penalty free game.

HABS   5    FLYERS   1

The Habs score twice within the games first two minutes and dominate from there.  Winger Mike Harke with the tour du chapeau.  Singles for Mike Ala and Jimmy Klimkowski.  Goalie Bobby Rutkoske with a ten save game.  Flyers Captain Ryan O’Rourke with their lone goal in this penalty free game.

HAWKS   3    HABS   3

Hawks up 3-0 with only six minutes left on the game clock.  The Habs proceed to score three times in a three minute span for the tie!  Mike Ala, Robbie Porter and sub Gardner with the French goals.  Brian Belloli, Billy Hagen and sub T. Hachigan with the Hawks markers.  Hawks center Billy Hagen with a solo minor roughing infraction in the games final minute.

WINGS   8    SHARKS   2

He would rather play defense than lead his charges at forward.  Forward Mr. General Robert E. Lee with an outstanding five goal game!!  Postgame something green slipped out of his hockey pants.  Could it have been a small chunk of kryptonite?  Line-mates Ronnie Meltsner and sub Mercer both with1 & 3 games with the line totaling 14 points in the game!  Oh – Pat Berry also scored.  Captain Steve “Barney Miller” Dietrich and Ben Haynes with the Sharks goals, as they underwhelm with a double dip loss today.

BRUINS   5    FLYERS   3

Mark Smyth and sub Egrin both score twice for the Bruins.  Steve Lemieux with a single.  Robert Stempian goes twine twice for the Flyers. Sub Edit with their final goal as the Flyers drop a deuce today.  As depicted in my preseason preview, I think it’s going to be a long season for these revamped Flyers.

While playing for the New Jersey Devils, Chico Resch once got pulled over by a cop: ”’Hey buddy,” the officer said, his voice as gruff as that of the toughest NHL forwards. “What are you doing?”  “’I’m trying to find this church,” I said. “Did I do something wrong?”  “You went through a red light.” I started groveling. I told him I’d just moved to Jersey, didn’t know a whole lot of people. At that point, I began bracing for the ticket. And then he recognized me. “Don’t I know you?’ he asked. “I don’t know. Who do you think I am?”  “Don’t you play hockey?”  “Yup,” I said. “You’re a goalie, right?”  “Yup.”  “Chico Resch? Goalie for the New Jersey Devils?” “Yup. That’s me.” ’ “Ive seen you play goal. And you, more than anybody else, knows what a red light looks like.’” Turns out he was a New York Rangers fan. At least he let me off without a ticket!
