WEEK FOUR – PLAYOFFS
THE FIRST PLACE FLYERS HAVE SOLIDIFIED A SPOT IN
THE SAM CUPP CHAMPIONSHIP GAME IN TWO WEEKS!
CONGRATS!
FLYERS 4 WINGS 0
The Flyers score twice in each period and easily dispatch the Wings. Goaler Mike Haines with the ten save whitewash. Only just a prelude of things to come in game two – Robert Stempian goes twine twice. Steve Orr and Adam Godard with singles. No Wings sightings this game.
HABS 2 SHARKS 2
A game of high impact going in, both teams were tied for second place in the playoffs! Both goalies sub Clark for the Habs and Superman for the Sharks with stellar games in nets! The French guys were clinging to a 2-1 lead on goals from Al Pyc and Jim Chapie, only to see John Zuccarini of the Sharks tie it up 2-2 for the final score. Doug “Jeff” Beck with the Sharks initial tally.
BRUINS 5 HAWKS 2
The Bruins do a little line tinkering, as they split up Steve Lemieux and Eddie Higgins and it works to perfection, as they declaw the Hawks. Eddie Higgins, Chuck Bowers, sub John Siedlik and the Jimmy’s – Klimkowsi and Powell all find the back of the net for the Bruins. The affable Mark Smyth with both Hawks markers, as they sport four subs today.
FLYERS 6 HAWKS 3
The Flyers keep ascending and the last place Hawks keep descending, as the Flyers sweep and the Hawks drop a deuce. The DSO line of John Dooley(2 Assists), Mr. Robert Stempian(4 & 1) and Ryan O’Rourke(1 & 4) orchestrates 12 points in the game! Oh – Adam Godard scored also. Pat “Crazy Legs” Berry and subs Larry “School Boy” Rowe and Hachigan score for the Hawks.
SHARKS 1 BRUINS 0
This was a barn burner! Both teams were tied for second place with the Habs entering this contest! Sammy “The Bull” Bonanno scores the games only goal, as the Sharks edge the Bruins. Having a fine resurgence season if you will – Superman adds to his burgeoning career shutout total with an excellent game between the pipes! With one week left – the Bruins are still in the Championship game hunt.
WINGS 6 HABS 3
The Wings play a great game and install a monkey wrench in the Habs Championship game aspirations. Forechecking demon Bo Altherr with the trick, leads the Wings! Dave Speiss and sub Ken Debuss with singles. Mike Harke, Al Pyc and sub Mike Ala tally for Habs, who are still in the hunt with one week remaining. No stranger to the sin bin – Habs sub Ken Debus with an unsportsmanlike minor penalty.
