WEEK FOUR – PLAYOFFS

SHARKS   6     HABS   2

The Sharks score three times in the games first four minutes to commence the rout!  Bruce “The Enabler” Gooel with a two goal game.  Singles for Gary Szylanski, Ben Haynes, Al Sparks and Doug “Jeff” Beck.   Goaler Brian Miller with a light workload.  Sub Matt Lawson and on a top shelf water bottle shot – Jeff Tracy score for the Habs.

FLYERS   6     WINGS    5

This was a wild one!  Flyers score their first five goals seven minutes into the game!  5-0 Flyers!  Wings roar back to eventually tie it at 5-5!  Needing a win and not a tie to still be in contention, the Wings pull their goalie in a tie game.  Robert Stempian scores the game winning empty net goal for the Flyers!  Flyers sub “Black” Jack Priauix with a two goal game.  Ryan O’Rourke with the Flyers initial tally.  The Wings actually dominate this game, as Flyers sub goalie “Ticker” Chauvin puts on a goaltending clinic!  Paul Vioalssi scores twice for the Wings.  Bruce Buntin, Sammy Bonnano and Eddie Higgins also score for the Wings.  This was a penalty free game.

BRUINS   3    HAWKS   1

Bruins sub John Zuccarini scores his first of two goals 36 ticks into the game, as the Bruins play a great game and deliver the Hawks their first loss of the playoffs!  Dave Gaskey with the empty net insurance goal.  Goalie Mike Schlimgen was outstanding in nets!  Marcin Niecalek with the Hawks lone marker.

WINGS   7     HABS   7

The battle for the basement as the score indicates!  The Wings score their first four goals six minutes into the game, but are unable to sustain the lead.  Deuces wild for Paul Violassi and Jimmy George.  Singles for Eddie Higgins, Dave Debrincat and on his first shift moved up to left wing – Kenny Perko.  Kenny Wilkins and power winger Don Courtley score twice for the Habs, who pick up their first point of the playoffs.  Jeff “Dick” Tracy tommy guns in another top shelf goal.  Adam Godard and sub Jeff Funk also score for the Frenchmen.

HAWKS   6     FLYERS   1

The Hawks right the ship with the convincing victory over the second spot Flyers.  Brian Belloli finds the back of the net twice for the first place Hawks, who will play in the Sam Cupp Championship game in two weeks.  Singles for Tommy Oswald, Steve Orr(SH), Marcin Niecalek and sub Justin “Mickey” Brantley.  Puck stopper Tommy Gazley with a light workload.  Winger Pat Berry with the Flyers marker.  Flyers defenseman Paulie “Knuckles” Polizzi and Hawks sub Mark Oyama(Roughing Minor) get into an altercation, as  Polizzi earns an early game exit, with a five minute and a ten minute head contact penalties.

BRUINS  2     SHARKS   1

A must W for the Bruins, as they keep their Championship game aspirations alive and a tough loss for the Sharks, as they are just a point behind the second place Flyers.  Goalies Mike Schmligen of the Bruins and Brian Miller of the Sharks both with outstanding games!  Robbie Porter with the game winning Bruins goal.  Bruins sub Al Phipps with their initial goal, on a Wayne Gretzky type behind the net pass from Joe Plati.  No trips to the sin bin for either squad.
