SHARKS 3 FLYERS 1
Big Ben Haynes leads the Sharks with a two goal game. Grizzled veteran right defenseman Randy Debuel with the Sharks initial marker. Goalie Brian Miller was outstanding between the pipes leaving the Flyers shaking their heads time after time! Acting Captain Kevin Maguire was the only Flyer to solve Mr. Miller. This was a penalty free game.
HAWKS 4 WINGS 1
Hawks dominate with three final period goals. Sammy Bonanno(SH), Mark Smyth, power play specialist Jeff Morton(PP) and sub Bob “Bugsy” Watson score for the Hawks. Randy Dunaj with the hat trick assist. Sub goaler Billy Papciak with an excellent game in nets! Dave Debrincat with the lone Wings goal.
BRUINS 3 HABS 2
Oh boy! The Bruins stole this one from the French guys! Steve Lemieux scores his second goal of the game with four minutes left to tie it up 2-2. Then with under two minutes left in the game – Dougie Roehl goes on a mad end to end rush and powers the puck blocker side past the Habs net-minder, for the game winning goal! Bruins defenseman Doug Wargo makes the defensive play of the game, foiling a late game 3-1 rush by the Habs. Don Courtley and on a blast from center ice – Kenny Wilkins score for the Habs in this penalty free game.
SHARKS 4 BRUINS 0
Total domination this game, as the Sharks swim upstream today with a double dip W! Goalie Brian Miller was fantastic this game, as it didn’t matter – high shot, low shot – he blocked them all! A well earned whitewash! Ben Haynes, Steve Dietrich, Keith Foucher and sub Ken Debus with the Sharks goals. No Bruins highlights, as even defenseman’s Keith Lutz’s Mom left the game early! Another penalty free game.
FLYERS 3 WINGS 1
The Flyers play a strong game and send the Wings to a doubleheader loss today. Pat Berry with the deuce for the Flyers. Jimmy George with the empty netter. Goalie Bobby Rutkoske with a light workload. Mike Harke with the lone Wings goal. So, Ive been playing this great game of beer league hockey for a very long time and something happened today post game in the Wings locker room that I have never witnessed. Keri Topouzian had beer. He was very excited to share his full cooler of this new beer he had bought! Guess what? Unbeknownst to Keri – he had bought non-alcoholic beer! Hilarious!
HAWKS 5 HABS 1
Captain Mark Smyth leads his Hawks with the hat trick! Sammy “The Bull” Bonanno and sub Bob Watson with singles. Jeff Morton with three helpers. Sub goalie Billy Papciak again only allows one puck behind him! NFL reporter Mike Garafolo lookalike(See Picture Below) Al Pyc, with their lone goal, as the Habs were probably still reeling from their tough loss in game one!
The late great Borje Salming was one of the two first Europeans to play in the NHL.
