A fantastic Christmas stocking stuffer gift is my book:
LEGENDS OF BEER-LEAGUE HOCKEY.
Non-filtered true stories of my hockey career.
From Quebec to Florida to the East and West Cost.
Available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
You will recognize names in this book!
WINGS   3     BRUINS   0
0-0- entering the final stanza, then the Wings score on three consecutive final period shifts to defeat the Bruins.  General Robert E. Lee, Paul “Jay” Giles and Brian Belloli do the honors for the Wings.  Bobby Rutkoske adds to his burgeoning career shutout total.  The Bruins were in hibernation this game.
HAWKS   4     FLYERS   3
The line of Morton Downey Jr. lookalike(See Picture Below) Billy Hagen(3 & 1), sub Todd Schurman(1 & 1) and Dan Bouzide(4 Helpers) factor in all of it’s teams scoring with a 10 point game!  Flyers nemesis – sub goalie Billy Papciak with the W!  Jimmy George, Kenny Perko and sub Brian “Bobby” Mercer score for the Flyers.  Billy Hagen also with a an unsportsmanlike minor penalty and shortly after he exits the box, incurs a cross checking minor penalty.  Gotta say the guy was involved this game, with factoring in all of his team’s goals along with his trips to the box!
SHARKS   4     HABS   2
1-0 French guys going into the final period behind the first of Mike Ala’s two goals.  Then the Sharks right the ship with a two goal effort from Robert Stempian and singles from Doug “Jeff” Beck and Steve Dietrich.  This was a penalty free game.
HABS   3    FLYERS   2
An excellent high intensity hockey game as both teams and especially their Captain’s, really don’t particularly care for each other.  All the game’s scoring was accomplished in the first period.  Adam Godard scores twice for the Habs.  Mike Harke with their middle marker.  Ronnie Meltsner and Bill Murdock tally for the Flyers.  The Flyers pull their goalie and see right defenseman Kevin Maguire ring one off the post as ever so close of tying the game up.  The Flyers drop a deuce today in two tightly contested contests.
HAWKS   4     BRUINS   2
After dropping both games last week, the Hawks take a deuce this week as four subs populate their roster.  Dan Bouzide(2), Billy Hagen and sub Robbie Olmstead score for the Hawks.  Dougie Roehl and sub Jimmy “Boog” Powell with the Bruins goals as they remain winless in this young season.
WINGS   4    SHARKS   2
More on the fireworks later.  Same scenario with the Wings as they drop a deuce last week and win both games this week.  Mark Smyth, Rob Lee, Mike Lawson and sub Ken Debus score for the Wings.  John Dooley with the hat trick assist.  Doug Beck and Mike Krueger with the Sharks goals.  Now to the fireworks I promised you.  In the games final minute Wings enforcer Paulie “Knuckles” Polizzi picks up a tripping penalty as he continually voices his extreme displeasure to referee Buzz Thomas.  30 ticks later, he incurs two ten minute unsportsmanlike penalties and also a minor unsportsmanlike penalty to boot and a late game exit.  I think it’s probably safe to say Paulie can catch up on his Christmas shopping next Tuesday as he will be on a hockey sabbatical.  Pictured below is a picture from the Detroit Free Press around five years ago at Eastern Market with Paulie with his back to you, in one of his more docile moments enjoying the hot tub Lions pregame.

Who is the only player in NHL history to win the Hart, Art Ross and Lady Byng trophies in the same season, doing so in consecutive seasons?

Hint – This Hall of Fame player played 22 years with the same team!
