MITCH ALBOM SAID: ” DEATH ENDS A LIFE – NOT A RELATIONSHIP!”
WEEK TWO PLAYOFFS
HABS 1 HAWKS 1
Playoff hockey at its best! Hawks Captain Mark Smyth scores on the games first shift and “Gentleman” Don Coutley goes five hole for the Habs in this penalty free game.
BRUINS 2 FLYERS 1
Bruins left winger Joe Plati blisters a slap shot through the Flyers net-minder with six minutes left in the contest to break the 1-1 tie! Jeff Tracy with the Bruins first goal on a beautiful tip from right defenseman Dougie Roehl. The Bruins blatantly missed five open net opportunities with the Flyers goalie pulled! Sporting five subs today – Flyers sub Mark Oyama puts the Flyers up 1-0 early in the game. Dunce of the day award goes to Curt Lesnau, who forgot his cup today!
SHARKS 5 WINGS 4
Deuces wild for forward “Black” Jack Priaux and left defenseman Rob Lee. Jim Chapie got the party started for the Fish. Wings – Dave Debrincat, Bobby Watson and the Bruce’s – Gooel and Buntin. Grand Rapids call up Larry “School Boy” Rowe with three helpers. Bobby Watson receives a hooking minor penalty and politely asks the scorekeeper if he can get a senior discount to reduce his two minute penalty! Didn’t happen!
BRUINS 3 SHARKS 0
The Bruins once again slay the Sharks, as goalie Mike Schmligen records maybe a ten save shutout. The ice was considerably tilted in the Burins favor! Jeff Tracy, Steve Lemieux and on a perfect left point pass by Keith Lutz – Curt Lesnau tally for the men in yellow.
HABS 3 WINGS 1
Shifty Rick Batchelder breaks the 1-1 tie in the final period depositing the puck twice in the net! Mike Ala with a late first period goal for the Habs. Sub Larry Rowe scores for the Wings who drop a deuce today.
FLYERS 4 HAWKS 1
All the games scoring was accomplished in the initial stanza. Rounding into game shape, Flyers sub Billy Hagen with the deuce. Singles for fellow sub Jeff Funk and Pat “Crazy Legs” Berry. Puck stopper Bobby Rutkoske with an excellent game between the pipes! Sammy “The Bull” Bonanno with the lone Hawks marker in this penalty free game. Hawks power forward Jeff Morton’s helmet slips down on his face and inflicts major pain. See picture below. Teammate Dr. Keri Topouzian patched him up postgame.
