A goaltending battle between Brian Miller of the Sharks and Bobby Rutkoske of the Wings! Mark Smyth puts the Wings up one zip early in the final period. Mike Krueger buries the game tying goal with exactly two minutes left in the contest! Postgame – Sharks Captain Steve Dietrich said – that was a good tie! A penalty free game.
FLYERS 1 HABS 1
The Flyers do what they do best – tie – as they accumulate their sixth tie of the season! Jimmy George goes far side low, for the game tying goal with just over two minutes left in the game for the Flyers! John “The Little Ball of Hate” Perini with the Habs goal. Puck stoppers – Mike Haines of the Flyers and Dave Gaskey of the Habs were outstanding between the pipes!
BRUINS 3 HAWKS 2
Game tied 2-2, then the Hawks incur a fatal too many men on the ice penalty late in the final period. Power play specialist “Black” Jack Priauix buries the game winning goal for the Bruins! Bo Altherr and Steve Lemieux with first period Bruins goals. Billy Hagen and Paul Violassi were the marksman for the Hawks.
HAWKS 2 WINGS 2
The Wings pick up their second tie of the night, as Mark Smyth scores with just over a minute left in the game! Mike Lawson with the Wings initial marker. Speedster Paul Violassi with both Hawks goals. Goalies Al Clark of the Hawks and Bobby Rutkoske of the Wings with stellar games in nets!
FLYERS 3 SHARKS 1
SwIft Jimmy George with the natural hat tick in the final period for the Flyers. Goaler Mike Haines with another outstanding game in nets and said postgame: “We ain’t tying this game!” Eddie “The Eagle” Higgins with the lone Shark goal. No trips to the sin bin for either squad.
HABS 6 BRUINS 1
The only blowout of the night, as winger Mike Harke achieves the tour du chapeau for the Habs! Singles for John Perini, Adam Godard and Bobby Watson. Goalie Dave Gaskey with a relatively light workload. Fresh off playing some pond hockey Sunday – Bruins sub Chuck Mournaine with their lone goal. Another penalty free game.
