FLYERS 2 WINGS 2
The guy who absolutely hates ties – Bruce Buntin of the Flyers – will take this one, as he slides in from the point and chips in the game tying goal, with the goalie pulled and 28 seconds left on the arena clock! Captain Ryan O’Rourke with the Flyers first period goal, as they tie their seventh game of the season! Mike Lawson and Brian Belloli score for the Wings. Belloli’s goal was of the power play variety, as the Flyers Bill Murdock incurs a tripping minor penalty and then continues to chirp in the box and picks up an unsportsmanlike conduct minor penalty 15 seconds later.
BRUINS 3 SHARKS 1
The Bruins play a great game and defeat the Fish. Steve Lemieux, Dougie Roehl and Marine Jim “Vin” Scully do the honors for the Bruins. Goaler Mike Schlimgen with a very strong game in nets. Jim Scully’s good friend Mike Krueger, with the lone Shark goal in this penalty free game.
HABS 3 HAWKS 1
He was everywhere this game, as Habs forward Bobby Watson scores twice for the Bleu, Blanc et Rouge. John “The Little Ball of Hate” Perini with the game winning goal. Puck stopper Dave Gaskey shined in nets! Scoring on a mad end to end dash – Paul Violassi with the Hawks lone marker.
FLYERS 1 BRUINS 0
A very entertaining game as goalie Mike Haines of the Flyers ensures – no tie this game! Power winger Kenny Perko goes low far side for the game winning goal! The Bruins play a very good game and just couldn’t find that goal. This was a penalty free game.
SHARKS 4 HAWKS 1
The Sharks split on the day and the Hawks go in the other direction, as they drop a double dip. Big Ben Haynes scores the Sharks first goal and then Robert Stempian takes over and scores the next three goals, as he subtlety points to the sky after his final goal, as a tribute to his Father, who passed away last week. Dave Debrincat with the Hawks only goal, as they are now winless in their past six games.
HABS 5 WINGS 0
Bob “Bugsy” Watson had a little extra jump today, due to the unexpected passing of good friend Bill Szkody(Pictured Below on the Left) at age 69, as Bob scores twice in each game! Former “R'” Sting player, coach and hockey contributor – Bill was not only my cousin, but we were as close as brothers. We grew up together on the east side of Detroit and boy did we have adventures! With a very heavy heart – RIP Bill! Adam Godard also goes twine twice for the surging Habs. Mike Harke with their final goal. The top spot Habs are in pretty good shape, as they lead both the Flyers and Sharks by four points in the standings with just two games remaining in the season. No Wings highlights in this penalty free game.
