WEEK ONE – PLAYOFFS

SHARKS   3    FLYERS   0

Sharks goalie “Sugar” John Marchin shuts out  the high flying Flyers in a splendid display of puck stopping!  Al Phipps, Ronnie Meltsner and Steve “Barney Miller” Dietrich do the honors for the Fish.  No Flyers highlights.  While serving his holding the stick penalty, the Flyers Chuck Mouraine picks up an unsportsmanlike minor penalty with an entertaining display of four letter words!  Then with the game clock waning – Howard Smith(Roughing) of the Flyers and sub Jim “Vin” Scully(Body Check) of the Sharks exchange pleasantries.  Guess the top spot Flyers don’t take kindly to losing.

Steve “Mario” Lemieux with a 2 & 2 game for the Habs.  Curt Bailey also with a deuce.  John Perini with a single.  Robbie Porter and JP tally for the Bruins in this penalty free game.

Wow!  The Hawks score their first four goals in the last four minutes of the first period!  Pat Collins with a two goal game.  Singles for Eddie Higgins, Al Pyc and sub Paulie “Knuckles” Polizzi.  Goaler Mike Mostyn was excellent between the pipes.  General Robert E. Lee with the lone Wings goal.  Pat Collins of the Hawks and Wings sub Lawson both pick up simultaneous unsportsmanlike minor penalties.

HABS   8     SHARKS   1

These Frenchmen were flying today, as they sweep in grand fashion!  Bruce “Cooler Man” Gooel with the tour du chapeau.  Steve Orr with the deuce.  Singles for Curt Bailey, David Walters and Jimmy “Boog” Powell.  Steve Lemieux with the hat trick assist.  Sharks sub “Vin” Scully scores with just under two minutes left in the contest to wreak Sir Kevin Beebe’s shutout.

WINGS   4    FLYERS   3

Whoa!  The Wings send the high powered Flyers to a double dip defeat today!  Mark Smyth with the trick for the Wings.  Brian Belloli with the Wings initial marker.  Flyers sub “Magnum” Higgins with a two goal game.  Rob “The Rifleman” Duncan with a single.

HAWKS   3     BRUINS   2

Eddie “The Eagle” Higgins scores twice for the Hawks, who sweep on the day.  Pat Collins with the Hawks first goal.  As in game one – Hawks net-minder Mike Mostyn shined in nets!  Al Sparks and JP tally for the men in yellow.
