HABS   4     BRUINS   0

“Sugar” John Marchin shutouts the Bruins as he stops shot after shot!  General Robert E. Lee and returning from a long DL stint – sub Mike Ala both with two goal games!  Ala’s second goal was of the short handed variety.  No Bruins highlights.

HAWKS   2    WINGS  1

Mark Smyth scores two first period goals and goalie Bobby Rutkoske stops ten of the eleven Wings shots.  Having a fine year – Todd Schurman with the lone Wings goal.  Perpetual bad boy – Wings sub Ken Debus with a solo minor roughing penalty.

SHARKS   2     FLYERS   2

An extremely entertaining contest with first place ramifications, as Ben Haynes ties the game up halfway through the final period.  Doug “Jeff” Beck with the Sharks initial goal.  Ryan O’Rourke and Adam Godard tally for the Flyers.  Both puck stoppers – Superman and Flyers sub Billy Papciak with excellent games in nets!  Things got a little tenuous at games end, as Bruce Buntin of the Flyers picks up an undisciplined unsportsmanlike minor penalty with a minute and a half left in the contest.  The Flyers were up to the task with the succesfull penalty kill.

HAWKS   4    HABS   1

Once again Hawks goalie “The Bob” Rutkoske only allows one frozen disc behind him as the Hawks sweep on the day.  Mark Smyth, “Black” Jack Priauix, Pat Berry and Kenny(MVP) Perko score for the Hawks.  Robbie Porter with the lone French goal.   Postgame – Habs defenseman Howard Smith refrained from attending the parking lot session.  “Gotta get ready for Juneteenth tomorrow” Howard said.

FLYERS   6    WINGS   5

This was a wild one!  Flyers sub Matt Lawson scores a buck 25 into the game, only to see Todd Schurman of the Wings score his first of two goals 20 seconds later!  Deuces wild for Ronnie Meltsner and Robert Stempian of the Flyers.  Steve Orr with a single.  Keri Topouzian and subs Matt Linnell and Scott Leslie also score for the Wings.  The Wings have now lost their past two doubleheaders as they sit comfortably in the basement.

BRUINS   4     SHARKS   0

0-0 entering the final period – then the Bruins find a chunk of kryptonite and rattle off four final period goals!  Free skating sub Jeff Funk with a two goal game.  Singles for Jimmy Klimkowski and Steve “Mario” Lemieux.  Brian Miller with the well earned whitewash as the Bruins split on the day.
