WEEK FOUR – PLAYOFFS

AS THE PLAYOFFS COME TO A CLOSE, WE HAVE THE TOP THREE – HABS, FLYERS AND HAWKS AND

THE BOTTOM THREE – BRUINS, SHARKS AND WINGS.

HAWKS   7     BRUINS   1

Da Hawks score three times in the games first seven minutes and the rout was on!  Centers Robert Stempian(3) and Billy Hagen(2) lead the charge.  Kenny Perko(1 & 3) and Adam Godard also find the back of the net.  Sub goalie Billy Papciak with a ten save game.  Bo Altherr scores for the Bruins.

HABS   5    SHARKS   1

Sammy “The Bull” Bonanno scores the Habs first three goals as fedora’s littered the ice!  Jim Chapie and sub Mike Lawson with singles.  Tom Hines with a three helper game.  Goalie Dave Gaskey with a light workload.  Todd Schurman goes far side low for the lone Shark goal.

FLYERS  3    WINGS  0

Scoreless entering the final stanza – then the Flyers score three times in a three minute final period span for the W!  Ryan O’Rourke(PP), Chuck Mouraine and Paul Polizzi do the honors for the Flyers.  Goalie Mike Haines was not tested very much.  No Wings highlights, except for the back to back minor unsportsmanlike penalties incurred by Wings Captain Paul Giles, as possibly some season long frustration spilled out.

FLYERS   2     HAWKS   2

A very entertaining game of high ramifications!  With one week remaining in the playoffs, the Flyers are one point up on the Hawks for the honor to play the formidable Habs in the Sam Cupp Championship game in two weeks, as the game ends in a tie!  Pat Berry and Chuck Mouraine go twine for the Flyers.  Billy Hagen and Robert Stempian do likewise for the Hawks.  Both goalies – Mike Haines of the Flyers and sub goalie Billy Papciak of the Hawks were simply outstanding between the pipes!  Hawks sub Ken Debus with a three penalty game and early second period exit to the locker room.

HABS  3    WINGS   1

The top seed Habs play their usual clean game and dispatch the low scoring and last place Wings.  The ever dangerous Kenny Wilkins from the point, with a two goal game!  Sub Mike Lawson with the game winning goal.  Jimmy George with the Wings marker.  Goalie Superman with a very strong game for the Wings.

BRUINS   2    SHARKS   1

Dougie Roehl blasts in both Bruins goals and sub goalie Rick “Ticker” Chauvin shines in nets!  Rob Lee with the Sharks marker, as the Sharks score once in both gams today as they drop a deuce.  This penalty free game was a game of no playoff consequence.
