“I remember one year, my wife called me and asked me to bring home a hockey stick signed for a neighbor who wanted it for a charity. So, I was walking out of the arena after game two of the season, and as I’m leaving, Bernie Nicholls asked me where I was going with my stick. I said, ‘I always take it home with me, even on game days. I take it home with me all the time.’ After that, he took his stick home after every single game. He ended up scoring 70 goals, and by Christmas, every guy on the team was walking out of the locker room with a hockey stick.”

Sniper Ronnie Meltsner scores 20 ticks into the game as Steve Orr nets the game winner for the Wings.  Stalwart puck stopper “Sugar” John Marchin shined in nets!  Dave Debrincat with the lone Shark goal.

An even game as the score indicates.  Jeff “Dick” Tracy tommy guns in two goals for the Habs.  Mike Ala with their middle marker.  The Flyers reach into their Providence farm club and call up prospect Eidt, who finds the back of the net twice.  Fellow sub “Bobby” Mercer with their middle marker.  Robert Stempian with three helpers.

The Hawks do all their scoring in the initial stanza for the W.  Todd Schurman, Dan Bouzide and with the game winner – Kenny Perko tally for the Hawks.  Puck stopper Mike Haines was his usual solid self in nets.  Steve Lemieux and “Black” Jack Priauix do the honors for the Bruins in this penalty free game.

The top spot Wings sweep their second consecutive DH as they score twice in each period.  Bob “Bugsy” Watson with the deuce.  Singles for Steve Orr and Kevin Maguire.  Hawks – Billy Hagen, Todd Hachigan and Dan Bouzide.  Bouzide also incurred a solo roughing minor infraction.

FLYERS   4    SHARKS   3

The Flyers play a strong game and edge the Sharks.  Enforcer Paulie “Knuckles” Polizzi, Ryan O’Rourke, Bo Altherr and sub Eidt do the honors for the Flyers.  Bruce Gooel and subs Egrin and Ken Debus score for the talent laden last place Sharks, who now drop their fifth consecutive game.

BRUINS   4    HABS   2

The Bruins split on the day, behind the hat trick efforts of sub Rob Aughe.  Chuck Bowers with a single.  Sub goalie Dar with a stellar effort in nets.  Wingers Robbie Porter and Mike Harke do the honors for the Frenchmen.  Steve Lemieux of the Bruins picks up a solo roughing minor penalty.
