A community in Livonia is honoring loved ones who were touched by cancer by giving back in a major way.

A hockey team launched a nonprofit to raise funds for kids to pursue sports after they had suffered a loss. American Aces is also raising awareness through events, like one they had this weekend.

Brian Prentice is recalling the bond he and his brother, Josh, shared over hockey and giving back. Josh passed away on Nov. 13.

HABS   2    SHARKS   2

A well played defensive game as both veteran goaltenders Superman and “Sugar” John Marchin, with the emphasis on veteran’s – play a strong game!  Mike Harke and Jim Chapie do the honors for the French guys.  Tommy Hines and Sammy Bonanno tally for the Fish.

HAWKS   3    FLYERS   2

In a repeat of the Sam Cupp Championship game, MVP and power play specialist Kenny Perko goes twine twice!  Perko’s power play game winning goal came on a Flyers management snafu, as they had too many players on the ice.  Ouch!  Billy Hagen started the scoring 47 ticks into the contest.  Adam Godard and Ryan O’Rourke with the Flyers markers.

BRUINS   4    WINGS   3

The Bruins play a strong game behind the two goal effort of Jimmy Klimkowski, as he reverts back to his Heilman Field days as a goal scoring phenom!  See Picture below.  Joe Plati and Rick Neilson of Cheap Trick with singles.  The Wings receive goals from Todd Schurman and subs Matt Lindell and Paul Violassi.  This was a penalty free game.

FLYERS   4     HABS   4

Down 3-0 entering the final stanza, the Flyers score four times as Captain Ryan O’Rouke scores the late game tying goal – his second of the game for the stalemate.  Robert Stempian and Steve Orr also with Flyers goals.  Mike Harke, Al Pyc, Rob Lee and returning from a successful heart surgical procedure – “Gentleman” Don Courltey score for the Habs, who tie their fourth game of the young season.  Eight games played and four ties!

SHARKS   3    WINGS   1

Wings sub Bob “Bugsy” Watson score nine seconds into the game and Sharks goalie Superman shuts them down from there!  Ben Haynes, Sam Bonanno and Tom Hines were the marksman for the Sharks.  Wings defenseman Dave Debrincat and no stranger to the penalty box – Sharks sub Ken Debus incur roughing minor penalties.

HAWKS  1     BRUINS   1

Goaltenders Brian Miller of the Bruins and sub Rick “Ticker” Chauvin of the Hawks put on a splendid old school original six showdown display!  Who else?  Power forward Kenny Perko scores for the Hawks!  Rick Neilson strums in a power play goal for the Bruins.
