HAWKS 3 BRUINS 1
Scoreless entering the final stanza – then Paul Violassi scores twice on the same shift two minutes into the final period and that’s all the Hawks needed for the W! Billy Hagen with their insurance marker. Goalie Allen Clark with a light ten save workout. Right winger Robbie Porter with the Bruins marker.
FLYERS 5 HABS 2
This guy is on an absolute roll! Sub Rob Aughe scores the Flyers first three goals, as they clinch first place in the first half standings and a two point playoff boost. Jimmy George and Chuck Bowers with their final two goals. Kenny “Prime Time” Wilkins and Adam Godard tally for the French guys in this penalty free game.
SHARKS 2 WINGS 1
Oh boy! 1-1 tie as the game clock is winding down. Then Captain Steve “Barney Miller” Dietrich buries the game winning goal with 18 seconds left in the game! Doug Beck with the Sharks initial goal. Shutout leader goalie Brian Miller was excellent in nets! Mike Lawson with the Wings lone goal in another penalty free game.
WINGS 2 HAWKS 0
0 – 0 entering the final period – then Wings sniper Mark Smyth deposits two pucks into the net for a Wings W! Puck stopper Bobby Rutkoske with the whitewash and just an outstanding effort between the pipes! Despite the loss, the Hawks end up in second place in the standings and pick up a point for the playoffs.
HABS 3 BRUINS 2
A well played game of zero consequence, as “Gentleman” Don Courtley breaks the 2-2 tie with the game winning power play goal as Bruins player “Black” Jack Priauix looks forlorning in the penalty box. Points and assists leader Mike Ala and Bobby Watson with the Habs first two markers. Bo Altherr and sub Chuck Moraine with the Bruins goals. This concludes a record breaking season for the last place Bruins, who only won two games all season. I’m sure Kenny Wilkins remembers, back in the early days when a team was struggling, our founder Sam Cupp would arbitrarily make a trade to help out that struggling team. Maybe that policy should be revisited?
FLYERS 4 SHARKS 2
The top spot Flyers just keep on rolling, as they receive goals from four different players: Jimmy George, Chuck Bowers. Ryan O’Rourke and who else – sub Rob Aughe. Eddie “The Eagle” Higgins and Mike Krueger score for the Fish.
Name the three Plager brothers.
