A rarity indeed! The double shutout! Kudos to puck stoppers Bobby Rutkoske and Habs sub Mike Allemon. They were outstanding in nets! The Bruins were fortunate to kill off three penalties in the game. Two by enforcer Chris Zanke.
SHARKS 3 FLYERS 1
Sharks go up 3-0 and withstand a late game goal by Flyers sub Lawson. Al “Mike” Phipps(2) and sub Steve “Mario” Lemieux do the honors for the Fish. Goalie Brian Miller with a yeoman’s effort between the pipes in this penalty free game!
WINGS 4 HAWKS 2
The Wings score three final period goals to upend the Hawks. Al Pyc with the deuce for the Wings. Ronnie Meltsner and a shorthanded goal by Bob “Bugsy” Watson round out the Wings scoring. Peter Gibb and sub center Gary Szalinski tally for the Hawks.
HABS 5 HAWKS 1
Deuces wild for Al Platt and Mike Ala as they lead the Frenchmen over the Hawks. Moncton call up and hot tub aficionado Paulie “Knuckles” Polizzi also with a French marker. Habs sub goalie Mike Allemon with another excellent game in nets, as he only allows one goal on the night! Scoring in his fourth straight game – Peter Gibb, with the Hawks goal as they drop a deuce today and are winless in their past five contests.
BRUINS 2 SHARKS 1
Jeff “Dick” Tracy and Dave “Hammer” Arsenault score late game goals to propel the Bruins to the W. Goal keep Bobby Rutkoske was again stellar in nets – only allowing one goal in today’s doubleheader! The Bruins killed off the two penalty game from “Hammer” Arsenault. Sharks sub Munsterman with their lone goal.
FLYERS 2 WINGS 1
The battle for first place and the Flyers prevail! Ben Haynes and Keith Foucher score final period goals for the Flyers. Jimmy “Boog” Powell with the Wings first period marker. Both goalies – the Mikes – Schlimgen and Mostyn were outstanding in nets! Wings combustable net-minder Mike Mostyn(Roughing & a 2 minute Unsportsmanlike Conduct) and Brain Belloli(Slashing) get into a tiff and exchange four letter profanities. Jerry Frankel incurs a solo roughing penalty for the Wings.
