LET’S START TODAY WITH A CUTE AND HEART WARMING STORY.

LAST WEEK, ALL THE TEAM’S WERE LOOKING GOOD WITH THEIR NEW JERSEY’S AND NICE LOOKING NEW MICHIGAN STING LOGO.

LONGTIME STING MEMBER AND CAPTAIN KENNY WILKIN’S JERSEY WAS A LITTLE SNUG.

SO, KENNY CALLED MUDDY TO ASK IF THERE WERE ANY LARGER JERSEY’S AVAILABLE.

NOW, EVERYONE KNOWS HOW AFFABLE AND WARM AND FUZZY MUDDY IS.

MUDDY’S RESPONSE WAS:  “GO TO WEIGHT WATCHERS!”

LOL!  GOTTA LOVE IT!

SHARKS   7    HAWKS   2

Sharks go up 4-0 after the first period and glide for the W!  Sharks sub “Jeff” Beck strums in two goals.  Singles for Eddie Higgins, Rob Lee, Bruce Gooel, Bo Altherr and Steve Dietrich.  Jeff Tracy and Billy Hagen tally for the Hawks.  Randy Debuel of the Sharks picks up an interference infraction that Bruce Buntin of the Hawks took exception to, which resulted in a roughing minor penalty for him.

WINGS   3     HABS   3

A well played hockey game as the result implies.  Feeling a little slimmer today – Kenny Wilkins scores twice for the Habs.  Robert Stempian with the Habs middle marker.  Wings – Keith Foucher, David Herkowitz and sub Mike Garlick.  No trips to the sin bin for either squad.

FLYERS   6     BRUINS   3

The Bruins catch the Flyers in a foul mood after they dropped a doubleheader last week.  The Flyers did have some very fortunate bounces early in the game that set the tone for them.  The Bruins score two goals late in the game to make the final score closer than it really was.  Captain Ryan O’Rourke scores twice for the Flyers.  Singles for Steve Lemieux, Al Phipps, Sammy Bonanno and sub Glen Boice.  Joe Plati, Rob Middleton and sub Dougie Roehl do the honors for the Bruins.  Al Pyc of the Flyers picks up a solo roughing minor penalty.

SHARKS   5     HABS   5

The Habs play another strong game as they pick up their second tie of the day!  Moncton call up Mike Harke scores twice for the Frenchmen.  Singles for Kenny Wilkins, “Gentleman” Don Courtley and Curt Bailey.  The Sharks are now undefeated in their past seven contest’s and are tied for first place.  Big Ben Haynes with the deuce for the Fish.  Bo Altherr, Randy Debuel and sub “Jeff” Beck with singles.

WINGS   4    BRUINS   3

The Wings are now undefeated in their past five games and are tied for first place with the Sharks and the Flyers.  Grand Rapids call up Mike Garlick with the deuce.  Al Sparks and Chuck Mouraine also with Wings markers.  Ronnie Meltsner, Bob “Bugsy” Watson and sub Jimmy “Boog” Powell with the Bruins goals, who drop their second doubleheader in a row.  The Wings had to play short a man most of the game, as Captain Paul Giles picks up his third penalty of the game in the first period and an early exit.  Maybe he had somewhere to go?

HAWKS    5    FLYERS   3

Whoa!  Flyers up 3-2 late in the game and anticipating a W.  Nope!  The Hawks score three times in the games last two minutes for a stirring victory!  Jack Priauix with the game tying and empty net goals.  Right defenseman Billy Hagen who played a very safe and unassuming game up to this point, took charge with a minute left and on a two on one buries the game winner top shelf short side!  Bruce Buntin slaps in a backhand rebound goal.  Flyers – Steve Lemieux(SH), Al Pyc and Sam Bonanno.  Steve Lemieux of the Flyers incurs a holding and roughing minor penalties on the same play.

The Philadelphia Flyers have retired five numbers:
1, 2, 4, 7, 16 & 88.
Who wore these numbers?
1 – Bernie Parent
2 – Mark Howe
4 – Barry Ashbee
16 – Bobby Clarke
88 – Eric Lindross
