An excellent hockey game and fine goaltending by Mike Haines of the Flyers and Dave Gaskey of the Habs. 1-1 entering the final period – then Ronnie Meltsner goes top shelf for the game winning goal! Chuck Bowers with the Flyers initial goal. Sammy Bonanno with an empty netter. Robert Watson scores for the Frenchmen in another penalty free game.
HAWKS 5 BRUINS 5
This was a wild one, as the Bruins snap out of their goal scoring malaise only to see the Hawks tie it up late by a goal from Pete Ludwig. Billy Hagen, Paul Violassi, Mike Fox and Pat Berry also score for the Hawks. Captain Steve “Mario” Lemieux with the deuce for the Bruins. Singles for Jimmy Klimkowski, Bo Altherr and sub John Higgins.
FLYERS 6 SHARKS 2
These formidable and first place Flyers extend their unbeaten streak to six games as they harpoon the Sharks. The Flyers spread out the scoring as six different players light the lamp. Jimmy George(Also 3 Helpers), Ryan O’Rourke, Ronnie Meltsner, Kevin Maguire and short handed markers from Bill Murdock and Sammy Bonanno highlight the Flyers scoring parade. Robert Stempian and Eddie “The Eagle” Higgins score for the Fish who split on the day.
HAWKS 3 WINGS 2
2-2 entering the final stanza, then defenseman Dave Debrincat buries the game winning goal for the Hawks! Paul Violassi and Dan Bouzide with first period Hawks goals. Puck stopper Al Clark with a strong game in nets. Mike Lawson and having a quiet season so far – General Robert E. Lee with his first goal of the season, score for the Wings who drop a deuce today.
HABS 1 BRUINS 1
Not very happy with his first game performance, one of the good guys in the game – Bruins goalie Mike Schlimgen absolutely shines in this game! Jeff Tracy of the Bruins and Mike Ala of the Habs trade first period goals. Habs puck stopper Dave Gaskey with another excellent game in nets, as the French guys unfortunately extend their winless streak to six games.
