WINGS    3    BRUINS   0

Billy Hagen of the Wings scores two goals on one first period shift 30 seconds apart and that’s all goaler Mike Schlimgen needed as he post’s the whitewash in this penalty free game!  Grand Rapids call up Mike Folster also with a first period goal.  No highlights for the men in yellow.

HAWKS   3   FLYERS   0

Same scenario as the above game.  Three first period goals and a shutout recorded by Bobby Rutkoske!  Pat Collins, Steve Orr and Mike Ala all reach the back of the net for the Hawks.  No Flyers highlights.

SHARKS   3    HABS   2

Big Ben Haynes scores twice for the host Sharks as they defeat the Habs.  Al “Mike” Phipps with the Shark’s initial tally.  Goalie Mike Allemon with a strong game between the pipes.  John Perini and Moncton call up “Wayne” Gross score for the Frenchmen.

BRUINS   4    HAWKS   1

This was a feisty affair as eight penalties were called in this contest.  The Bruins score twice in each period to upend the Hawks.  Bruins sub “Scowling” Scott Leslie(2), Scott Shurin and James George do the honors.  Hawks sub “Magnum” Higgins with their lone goal.  At the final buzzer – the Hawks Terry Massserant(Roughing) and Bruins net-minder Mike Mostyn(unsportsmanlike conduct) rack up bad boy infractions.

FLYERS   4    HABS   1

1-1 entering the final stanza – then the Flyers rattle off three unanswered goals to send the Habs to a double dip defeat.  Jimmy “Boog” Powell with the deuce.  Singles for Robert E. Lee and Bruce “Cooler Man” Gooel.  Sub goaler Paul Kaczmarek with a stellar effort in nets.  Grosse Pointe native Cam “Steamboat” Lawrence with the Habs goal.

WINGS   5    SHARKS   2

The Wings hone their PK, as they score two final period short handed goals to the dismay of Sharks Captain Steve Dietrich!  Wings sub Gary Szalanski with the deuce.  Singles for Paulie “Jay” Giles, Mark Munsterman and Ronnie Meltsner.  Ben Haynes and Eddie ‘The Eagle” Higgins score for the Fish.  The Wings Jerry Frankel(Body Checking) and the Sharks Al Phipps(Roughing) exchange unpleasantries and hit the box in tandem.
