BRUINS 2 HABS 2
With just under thee minutes left in the contest – Chris Zanke of the Habs rifles a slap-shot from the point for the game tying goal. Kenny “Primetime” Wilkins scores 18 seconds into the game for the Habs initial goal. Adam Godard and “Motor City” Eddie Kowalczyk score for the men in yellow. Both goalers – Bobby Rutkoske and Sir Kevin Beebe were outstanding between the pipes.
WINGS 3 HAWKS 2
Another well played game by the goalies. Winning goalie Mike Schlimgen and “Sugar” John Marchin stood tall in the nets. Rob “The Rifleman” Duncan with the game winner. “I only score when it counts” Rob was quoted after the game. Marty Sell and Cam “Steamboat” Lawrence with the Wings first two goals. Mark Smyth and Chuck Mourine tally for the Hawks.
FLYERS 6 SHARKS 1
The Flyers dominate in the battle of Michigan Sting expansion teams. Flyers up 2-1 entering the final period – then proceed to rip off four final period goals. Deuces wild for Mike Ala and Bruce “Cooler Man” Gooel. Singles for Pat Collins and Gary Enmark. Eddie “The Eagle” Higgins with the “lone Shark” goal.
BRUINS 5 SHARKS 1
Tough night for the Sharks to hold their head above water, as they drop a deuce in not too glamorous fashion. Sharks up 1 zip entering the final period, only to see the Bruins Adam Godard record the natural hat trick. Keith Foucher and Bobby Watson both with late empty netters. Sharks sub Scott Leslie with the only Sharks tally.
HAWKS 2 HABS 2
Very appropriate. Both teams winless entering this epic showdown. Final result – both teams are still winless in this young season! Kenny Wilkins and sub Steve “Mario” Lemieux score for the Frenchmen. James George and scoring machine Chuck Mouraine with the Hawks markers. Both goalers – John Marchin and Sir Kevin Beebe with solid games in nets.
FLYERS 2 WINGS 2
The third 2-2 game of the night! In my preseason preview, I alluded to the fact that this league looks very even. So far, it does appear that their is strong parity in this league. The Flyers stop the Wings three game winning streak with two late final period goals! Bruce Gooel and Pat Collins(Game Tying Goal) score for the Flyers. The Wings Rob Duncan scores 47 ticks into the game and teammate Marty Sell with their second goal. I’ll say it again! Both goalies – Mike Mostyn and Mike Schlimgen with excellent games in nets. The Flyers kill off a 5 on 3 right before they score both goals and tie the game up late! Combative goaler Mike Mostyn with a two minute unsportsmanlike penalty included in one of those infractions. Looks like that instilled some life into the Flyers! After the Flyers game tying goal, the Wings Paulie Giles obviously took exception to something – and picks up a 10 minute unsportsmanlike penalty and an early head-start to the locker room!
Who is the only NHL player to amass more than 600 goals and 2,000 penalty minutes?
