WINGS    4    HAWKS   2

Left defenseman Al Pyc stuns the Hawks goalie with a top shelf laser at the 32 second mark of the game, as the Wings would score twice more before the games eight minute mark!  Jimmy George with the deuce.  Doug Beck also with a goal.  Brian Belloli with three helpers.  Robert Stempien and Billy Hagen tally for the Hawks.  A crucial point occurred late in the game, when Hawks winger Jeff Morton had a stone cold breakaway from center ice and Wings goalie Superman closed the five hole to preserve the two goal lead.

BRUINS   7    HABS   1

Surprise surprise!  The Bruins stun the Habs with six first period goals!  The league’s leading scorer Mike Harke with a 3 & 2 game!  Singles for Steve Lemieux, Joe Plati and Ronnie Meltsner.  Returning from his one week sabbatical – puck stopper Mike Schmligen was solid in nets!  Moncton call up Mike Lawson with the lone French goal.

FLYERS   2     SHARKS   1

The marquee game of the night!  Flyers defenseman Kevin Maguire goes top shelf water bottle with 3.7 seconds left on the arena clock, for the stirring Flyers victory!  Pat Berry with the Flyers initial goal.  Big Ben Haynes with the lone Shark goal.  Winning goalie Mike Haines and Sharks goalie Brian Miller with outstanding games between the pipes!

HABS   5     HAWKS   0

Mr. Sammy “The Bull” Bonanno with a huge 4 goal game – all in the first period!  Sammy now has 9 goals and one assist this season!  Sub Matt Lawson with the Habs final goal.  Habs sub goalie Paul Kaczmarek with the whitewash in a 12 save effort.

 BRUINS   3    SHARKS   1

The Bruins sweep on the day, as the Sharks descend in the other direction!  Eddie “The Eagle” Higgins scores the Bruins first two goals as he snaps a 1-1 tie late in the game.  Dougie Roehl with an empty net goal.  Goalie Mike Schmligen with several eye popping saves!  As in game one – Ben Haynes with the lone Shark goal.

FLYERS   6     WINGS   2

The Flyers sweep on the day as they ambush the Wings with four goals on four shots in the games first five minutes!  Wishing he could play the Wings every game – Pat “Crazy Legs” Berry with a two goal game.  Pat has 6 goals on the season – with five of them against the Wings!  Singles for Steve Orr, Keri Topouzian, Ryan O’Rourke and on a beautiful no look backhand pass from Steve Orr – Paulie Polizzi with a wicked one timer!  Brian Belloli and Mark Smyth score for the Wings, who actually did not play that bad a game as the score indicates, but their horrendous start sealed their fate.  The Wings were beneficiaries of shrimp supplied by Superman, due to last weeks shutout.  See below.

Who was the first non-canadian to win the NHL scoring title?
