 BRUINS   3    HAWKS   2

The Bruins and their nimble Gumby type goalie Mike Schlimgen, stole this game from the Hawks who had a huge territorial advantage all game!  Moved to right wing – Jeff “Dick” Tracy tommy guns in the Bruins final two goals!  Newly minted center Dougie Roehl with the Bruins initial goal.  Hawks sub John Zucarrini and depositing the puck into a wide open yawning net – Billy Hagen tally for the Hawks in this penalty free game.

SHARKS   6    HABS   1

The “Enabler” came to play today!  Mr. Bruce Gooel with a four goal game!  Pat Berry and Jim Chapie with singles.  Rob Lee with the hat trick assist.  Goaler Brian Miller with a very light workload. Power forward Kenny Perko with the Habs only goal, in another penalty free game.

WINGS   1    FLYERS   1

The Flyers and sub goalie Billy Papciak play a great game and hold the high flying Wings in check!  Keri Topouzian scores a highlight reel goal for the Flyers!  40 seconds later, Bo Altherr of the Wings goes far low side.  Wings sub goalie Haines with a strong game between the pipes!

BRUINS   2   SHARKS   1

How bout these Bruins as they sweep on the day!  Even with this loss, the predatory Sharks have wrapped up a date in the Sam Cupp Championship game in two weeks, as this was their first loss of the playoffs!  Mike Schlimgen shines in nets again for the men in yellow!  Eddie “The Eagle” Higgins and winger Jeff Tracy tally for the Bruins.  Patrick Berry with the lone Shark goal.  This was a penalty free game.

WINGS   5     HABS   1

The most significant game of the day, as the Wings pound the French guys!  In the final week of the playoffs next week, the Habs would have to win both of their games and the Wings would have to lose both of theirs, for the Habs to get into the Championship game.  Big win this game for the Wings!  Sub goalie Haines once again only allows one puck to get behind him!  Al Sparks, Bo Altherr, Brian Belloli, Mark Smyth and sub Ken Debus all find the back of the net for the Wings.  Mike Ala with a power play goal for the Habs.  Not too gentlemanly Don Courtley(Roughing) and Wings goalie Haines(Slashing) introduce each other.  Courtley also picked up an earlier cross check infraction.

HAWKS   3     FLYERS   0

The Toilet Bowl game!  See below.  The Hawks play another inspiring game and win their first game of the playoffs!  Both teams are now tied and resting comfortably in the basement, as both of their lone victories were against each other.  Hawks goalie Bobby Rutkoske was simply outstanding this game, leaving the Flyers shaking their heads time after time!  Doug “Jeff” Beck strums in two goals.  On a beautiful pass from Billy Hagen, Billy’s third assist of the game, Rick Batchelder buries the Hawks final goal!  No Flyers highlights as they only score once in today’s games.  Timmy “Dutch” Schultz of the Hawks incurs two body checking minor penalties.

When the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in four games in 1996/97 to win the Stanley Cup,

who was the Flyers losing goalie?
