WHEW!  BACK FROM THREE WEEKS IN FLORIDA AS REIGNING FLORIDA PALMS CHAMPIONS AND MVP!

BACK TO REALITY!

WINGS   6    FLYERS    0

This very balanced Wings team spread out the scoring as six players dent the twine.  Joey Ventimiglio, Mike Nalepa, Chad Wooten, Terry Boyette, Steve Bayagich and Steve Bitter all score for the Wings.  Net-minder “Smoking” Joe Polizzi with the seven save shutout.  Flyers goaler Kirk Larson with a tripping infraction.

HAWKS   5     HABS   1

Deuces wild for Brian Moore and sub Paul Erickson.  Marty Papesh with the game winning goal.  Hawks sub puck stopper “Bruce” Sutter with a very solid game in nets.  Big Rob Rowling with the lone Habs goal.  Rob remarked before the game how he misses his weekly hockey instruction from former teammate Mikey Brown!

BRUINS   4     SHARKS    4

A great come from behind tie for the Fish!  Down 4-2 with just under a minute left and the curfew clock precipitously winding down – the Sharks score twice for the breathtaking tie!  Game MVP “Midtown” Mikey Brown, with the natural hat trick in the games last seven minutes!  Left defenseman “Vin” Scully with a seeing eye shot from the point for the Sharks first marker.  Bruins – John McNeilly(2), Chris Isola and Rex Baker on a nifty move and a  top shelf shot.  Both goalies – Scott French and Dar with several thwarted breakaway attempts.  No trips to the sin bin for either squad.

BRUINS   4    FLYERS   3

This looked like this could be the Flyers first W of the season as they jump out to an early 2-0 lead!  But the undefeated Bruins claw back for the W!  As in game one – John McNeilly with the deuce.  Singles for Nate McNaughtry and Mike Ala, on a beautiful quick low far side shot.  Chris Isola of the Bruins picks up a solo roughing minor penalty.

WINGS    7    HABS   3

Line-mates Mike “Padre” Nalepa (4 & 3) and “Angry” Joey Ventimiglio (1 & 4) combine for 12 points in the game as this very strong Wings team score 13 goals in today’s doubleheader sweep!  Young Chad Wooten also with a goal.  Bob “Larry” Giroux scores 19 ticks into the game for the Habs , followed by Scott Chodun’s two goals.  Mr. Chodun also incurs a minor unsportsmanlike penalty.

HAWKS   9     SHARKS   1

Spurred by the return of their charismatic Captain John “Shifty” Shelton, the Hawks harpoon the Sharks!  The line of Brian Moore (3 & 4) , Mike Miller (1 & 4) and Marty Papesh (2 & 1) total a whooping 15 points in the game!  Captain Shelton with a two goal game and Jeff Funk with a single.  Goaltender “Bruce” Sutter with a very light workload.  Sharks sub defenseman Matt Donovan with their lone goal.  Things got very interesting on the Sharks bench, as brothers Brown were seen slashing each other and one said to the other: “Your playing selfish just like Dad always said you did!”  Whoa!  I know the last time the brothers played together – and it was for the Sharks, they won the Championship.  But Captain Ivory will need all of his Dale Carnegie training, if not more, if they don’t win on a regular basis.  Stay tuned!  This was a penalty free game.
